Dallas Cowboys star edge rusher Micah Parsons signed a multi-year deal with adidas this week, the brand announced on Tuesday. The news comes as Parsons has also agreed this week to become the president of Bleacher Report’s Gridiron content team.

“Since day one, I’ve wanted to be a global ambassador for the game, inspiring the next generation of athletes and fans around the world,” Parsons said in adidas’ news release. “It’s very clear to me that adidas is best aligned with my ambitions and career goals. The three stripes has already done so much for me and I know that this is going to be special.”

Parsons joins Team adidas

Since going in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft to the Dallas Cowboys, Parsons has made waves in the league. From winning the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2021 to raking in millions of views with The Edge show on Bleacher Report, he has become one of the most impactful voices in the NFL over the past three seasons. It doesn’t look like he’s stopping any time soon either.

“Since his rookie year, Micah has distinguished himself a transformational player in the league with his relentless drive, unique and engaging personality and overall pursuit of greatness,” said Chris McGuire, adidas Vice President of Sports Marketing. “Micah is a perfect addition to join the three stripes. His passion for greatness – both on and off the field – positions him to be one of the biggest stars in the game, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him join the adidas family.”

Other premiere NFL stars signed to adidas are Patrick Mahomes, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Garrett Wilson, Chris Jones, David Njoku, Tua TagovailoaAaron Jones, Trevor Lawrence, Brock Purdy, and Jordan Addison. The brand also recently announced a rookie class with Rome Odunze, Michael Penix Jr, Adonai Mitchell and Xavier Legette

Though Nike is the official uniform supplier for the NFL, Parsons will wear adidas apparel and specialty footwear on the field. He’ll also participate in brand marketing campaigns.

Mike McCarthy applauds star for broadening his horizons

The Cowboys have been without their star edge rusher for the beginning of the offseason workout program as he embarked on an overseas tour with fellow NFL star C.J. Stroud. According to head coach Mike McCarthy, the team didn’t take Parsons’ absence as a slight. In fact, he encouraged his young defender to “broaden his horizons” while he had the opportunity.

Last week, the former first-rounder went viral after posting footage from a sumo wrestling tutorial in Tokyo. McCarthy told reporters that he saw the video and was astounded that the sumo wrestler going up against Parsons was under 18 years old.

“Absolutely, sure did,” McCarthy said Sunday. “That man was 17 years old?”

Throughout Parsons’ travels, he’s stayed in touch with his team and his head coach. The Cowboys defender visited the Great Wall of China, held a youth football camp with Stroud in Beijing, threw out the first pitch at a Japanese baseball stadium and modeled clothes in the streets of Tokyo before returning stateside.

“We’ve been in touch,” McCarthy said. “We talked about the technique and about the experience of being over there but, hey, think about it. That’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so, I think any of our guys that have that type of opportunity to broaden their horizons, I’d be the first one to tell them to go.”
