With months left for the historic 2024 T20 World Cup in the Caribbean and United States, the ICC has announced their newest ambassador for the tournament. It is athletics legend, Usain Bolt

The Jamaican sprinter was announced as the World Cup’s newest ambassador on 24th April. Usain Bolt is a huge cricket fan, just like many of his compatriots, and hopes to help increase the popularity of the sport in the US. The 8-time Olympic gold medalist believes when the sport will kick-off in the US, fans will enjoy the energy.

America believes a lot in sport and high intensity and for me to get into that market is big. When they follow a sport, they follow a sport properly and they go all in and I feel like if they can crack into it, they will get into it the right way.  Usain Bolt to ICC

ICC chairman, Geoff Allardice, is excited for Bolt to feature as the World Cup ambassador. He believes the Jamaican legend will bring an energy to the World Cup that can attract young fans across the globe. He called Bolt a perfect fit for the World Cup thanks to the passion he has for the sport. 

Ambati Rayudu selects India squad for World Cup, drops MI captain 

Ambati Rayudu has selected his 15-man-squad for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. His squad had many surprise picks, like pace sensation Mayank Yadav and comeback man Riyan Parag

He dropped the captains of Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant, instead picking Shivam Dube and Dinesh Karthik. His squad also included Yuzvendra Chahal, who hasn’t played for India since 2023.
